Today, the Gloves Come Off!
I think I'm going to lift my spirits and work in my garden this week...and not get onto the kids when they come in dirty from playing soccer. And the baby can dig for all the worms he wants to. We'll all be happier for it.
Chase away the blahs -- get dirty! That's what researchers at Bristol University say.
These scientists seem to have concluded that many today could be experiencing depression because of an imbalance in their immune systems. And treatment with a found in soil seems to help. I guess that there's a lot to be said -- scientifically, too -- for communing with nature after all.
"Bacteria found in the soil activated a group of neurons that produce the brain chemical serotonin"
"The results leave us wondering if we shouldn't all spend more time playing in the dirt." Dr. Chris Lowry
